The sound of a perfect highfive resonates causing those nearby to silently and enviously take notice.

Today was a monumental day for myself! National High Five Day! A day which I've been counting down till since the last one ended on April 20th 2006. It falls every day on the third thursday of April and I heard about it last year. This year we went all-out to celebrate the highfve. A symbol of unity and togetherness, where we can break down the social barriers. It didn't matter if you were young or old, short or tall, one hand or three! The day was celebrated at our Jr. High and it was an incredible experience.

It began from the moment I woke up and stepped on the bus. Everybody got in the spirit (well, of course there's always the exception of a few scrooge-y kids) and gave a high five. Even teachers would celebrate and congratulate their students for a right answer with a high five. There were highfive day shirts (one was a Mr. Mohawk design), perfect high five contests, all you could want. (Well there was no cake, I'll have to make a cake next year!) My history teacher even gave us a short lecture about highfiving and how it's incredible that we can recognize all the diversity in the world.

I brought my video camera to school to film this event, and got tons of footage untill one parent, who was coming into school, saw it and requested it be confiscated. The fact that one parent would ruin it for everyone (I was just planning on making a nice little montage set to music) just because they feared their kid would show up on tape really pissed me off. I'm going to get it back, hopefully tomorrow, but it just dissapoints me that some people are so ... protective! Chill, no-ones gonna stalk your child. The administration in our school, ah, words can't describe how differently I wish they could do things.

But other than that, it was a great day and that night was a Global Language Society Induction where we celebrated, not by giving a handshake, but a highfive! It was a great day and can't wait till the next, when I get to bring it to the high school! Yea, it was fun Great day. Can't wait till next year.

When I get my camera back I'll try and add some stills, of course though, only of people that give me PERMISSION! to put them on the website. !!

Incredible incredible day
